Kingdom Forge is a blacksmithing and engineering workshop set in the picturesque Suffolk countryside. Kingdom Forge is run by a young and dedicated blacksmith, Paul Stoddart.
At Kingdom Forge we design and create high quality metalwork using a combination of traditional and modern techniques. We are able to accept commissions, working closely with our clients to meet their requirements. We also offer blacksmithing courses for people who would like to give it a try and maybe even take it up as a hobby!
Paul originally trained for two years at the National School of Blacksmithing in Herefordshire. There he gained qualifications and experience in many areas such as the art of blacksmithing, welding, fabrication and light machining to name a few.
At Kingdom Forge we take inspiration from the works and accomplishments of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Brunel was a mechanical and civil engineer who revolutionized transport and modern engineering. I particularly admire his 'can do' attitude and innovative thinking. Without Brunel, Great Britain would not be as we know it today.
Brunel is such an inspiration to us that we decided to name our business after him and incorporate his iconic top hat into our makers mark.
Our style of forgework is greatly influenced by the architecture of the Victorians and the sheer might and hard work that went into creating the monoliths that still stand today. Their work was industrial and rugged with beautiful floral designs inspire by the Renaissance Revival period up to the Arts and Crafts Movement. The saying "nothing too strong ever broke" comes to mind.
